January 2013

Inauguration Day

On Monday, January 7th, I took the oath of office to represent the 31st Assembly District in the 101st Session of the Wisconsin State Legislature! As always, it is an honor and a privilege to serve you in Madison and at home in the district.

Workforce Committee Informational Hearing Scheduled

The first meeting of the Assembly Committee on Workforce Development will be held on Tuesday, February 5th, at 10 a.m. The Department of Workforce Development will provide an overview of the agency for committee members, followed by invited speakers on research and reports related to workforce development. This is an informational hearing with invited speakers only. No public testimony will be accepted.

It is very important for all committee members to have a strong  understanding of the challenges facing employers, job seekers, and the agencies that serve them.  This hearing will help to inform committee members of the current conditions and potential public policy solutions to help Wisconsin meet existing and future workforce needs.

Helpful Income Tax Information

If you need assistance preparing your income tax returns, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs may be able to help. VITA/TCE sites help low-to-moderate income residents, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities prepare their tax returns for free. For a VITA/TCE site nearest your district, call 211 from anywhere in Wisconsin.

Forms and instructions for individuals, local governments, and businesses are always available on DOR’s website. Visit DOR’s “Forms” page for more information by clicking here. Individual income tax forms and instructions are also available at public libraries statewide starting at the end of January 2013 and lasting throughout the tax season. Individuals with questions about individual tax returns and other filing requirements are encouraged to contact DOR’s Customer Service Bureau by phone at (608) 266-2486 or via e-mail at income@revenue.wi.gov.
