Amy Sue Vruwink comes from the heart of Wisconsin, and embodies the character of her district. Born and raised on a family farm in the rural community of Milladore, Amy Sue grew up surrounded by the very constituents she currently represents. After graduating from Auburndale High School, Amy Sue attended Marian College in Fond du Lac, the site where her intense community involvement and civic participation would begin. Amy Sue assumed many varied roles including: Student Senate President, Admissions Liaison, Student Member of the Board of Trustees, Alzheimer’s patient volunteer, varsity letter winner, and honor student. After earning a degree in Communication, Amy Sue accepted a position with the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation.

In her time with the Farm Bureau, Amy Sue acquired in-depth knowledge of agricultural policy valuable in her current appointment to the Assembly Committee on Agriculture. Amy Sue gained additional relevant experience through her subsequent employment in the office of Congressman Dave Obey. Amy Sue worked in the central Wisconsin district office, assuming responsibility for federal policy matters involving agriculture and senior issues. Working in Congressman Obey’s office revealed to Amy Sue the gratification of working closely with constituents, and sparked her desire to serve in a political capacity.
Amy Sue first ran for the Legislature in 2000, and was elected to the seat in 2002. She was also appointed as Minority Caucus Secretary in 2003 and again in 2005. Amy Sue now sits on the Assembly Committees on Agriculture, Rural Economic Development and Rural Affairs, and Transportation. She also sits on the Special Legislative Council Study Committees on Health Care Access, Powers and Duties of Coroners and Medical Examiners, and the Special Committee on Review of Spousal Maintenance Awards in Divorce Proceedings. She has also recently been named to the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board.
Though heavily involved with her governmental responsibilities, Amy Sue retains membership in the Farm Bureau, the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce, the Central Wisconsin Fair Association, the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups, the “New Visions” Marshfield Arts Foundation, the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association, and the National Rifle Association. In her remaining free time, Amy Sue enjoys deer hunting and fishing with her husband, Mathew, and her family. She also hopes to pursue a bear hunting license in the near future. Opportunities to enjoy leisure activities are few and far between, but Amy Sue views her service in the State Legislature not as an obligation, but as a valued privilege.
