REP. VOS:   STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR WALKER’S STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS

“The state of the state is improving; we must continue to move the state forward.”

MADISON...Rep. Robin Vos (R-Rochester) released the following statement about Governor Walker’s State of the State Address.

“Governor Walker’s message was hopeful and optimistic.  It’s exactly what we need for our employers to be confident to expand their businesses and hire additional workers.”

“Tonight’s State of the State speech is a stark contrast to President Obama’s State of the Union Address.  President Obama wants more government programs using your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.  Governor Walker talked about continuing to provide opportunities for the private sector to grow and reduce the burden on the taxpayer.”

“The state of our state is improving.  Our legislative efforts to create a more fiscally-sound state are paying off.  Our reforms have resulted in a positive credit rating for Wisconsin and widespread optimism from business leaders. Businesses are expanding.  In my legislative district, Ruud Lighting plans to add more than 450 jobs.  Our state unemployment rate is at its lowest level since 2008 and just released today, Racine County’s unemployment rate continues to steadily decrease.”

“Our top priority in the Assembly remains the same:  jobs.  This spring we’re advancing our aggressive pro-jobs agenda with a focus on cutting burdensome government regulations and improving worker training. I look forward to working with Governor Walker to continue to move the state forward and bring prosperity to Wisconsin.”
