Representative Steineke is optimistic about new job numbers

Madison: Today the Department of Workforce Development released their monthly job
report and the numbers are encouraging. Wisconsin's unemployment rate now stands at
6.9 % which is the lowest it has been since December 2008. Representative Jim Steineke
(R-Kaukauna) had this to say on the subject:

"Wisconsin added over 15,000 private sector jobs in January and those jobs span over
almost all industries including new jobs in manufacturing. Wisconsin is one of the top ten
states with a decline in the unemployment rate. Other states are starting to see that the
plans we have put in place here will work in their states as well.

"Obviously there is still work to be done to make Wisconsin a more friendly place to do
business and add jobs, but these numbers are an indication that we are on the right path".
DWD indicated that February's job numbers should be available in approximately two
weeks.
