Representative Steineke Honored With ‘Voice of Courage’ Award
Madison: The Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault announced that
Representative Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) has been awarded their Voice of Courage
Award for his authoring of the Justice for Survivor’s Act. The bill eliminated the statute
of limitations on first degree sexual assault, first degree attempted sexual assault and first
and second degree attempted homicide. The bill was signed into law last week.
The Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault is an organization that offers support,
information and advocates to victims of sexual assault and their families. Their
membership includes nearly 50 sexual assault service provider agencies across the state
of Wisconsin.
“I’m honored to receive this award, but it is much more gratifying to know that the
victims of these heinous crimes will have the opportunity to get the justice they deserve.
There is nothing that is more important to me as a legislator than protecting our citizens."
The award will officially be presented on April 28th at a ceremony in Madison.
