Ten years ago this Sunday, the United States was changed forever, but thankfully, not in the way our attackers had hoped.

This Sunday will be a day to mourn those we lost, but it is also a day to celebrate the new heroes our country has gained as a result of this tragedy. September 11th gave us heroes in the courageous sacrifice made by those aboard Flight 93; in the dogged determination of the New York City police and firefighters who were determined that every person be safely evacuated and heroes in the men and women who currently serve our nation’s military – sacrificing their safety and time with their families so that our citizens can sleep in safety.

So this weekend take a moment to feel the loss our nation suffered ten years ago, but also relish the unwavering strength of the American spirit that even acts of terrorism could not destroy.

Thank you, and God Bless America.
