Today Americans are observing the last official day of the Iraq War (
http://www.whitehouse.gov/iraq
). It's fitting then that today we also honor the 175th anniversary of the Wisconsin National Guard. Thousands of WI Guard members served in Iraq, and many gave their lives, as well. This is a day to remember them and their families with gratitude for the sacrifices they've made, and the service they've provided to our state and nation. We also remember all the Guard members who came before, and who still serve, here or abroad. See the Wisconsin Dept. of Military Affairs history of our state's National Guard (
