More Job Losses Cap off Governor Walker’s Special Jobless Session
Democrats continue to stand ready to pass a real jobs agenda now
MADISON—A Milwaukee vehicle parts manufacturer announced Thursday it is closing and taking 165 family-supporting jobs to Kentucky. Governor Walker’s new jobs agency had no idea the plant was going to close, according to press reports. Rep. Jon Richards (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement:
“On the same day the legislature concluded a special session on jobs that’s been focused on anything but jobs, we learned that yet another Wisconsin company is closing its doors and leaving more workers without a job. Instead of wasting our time on a divisive agenda that doesn’t create any jobs, Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans should refocus on making job creation and retention their top priority. Democrats unveiled a package of nine job training and job creation bills on Tuesday that would put Wisconsin workers back on the job. If Gov. Walker was serious about creating economic opportunity he would call the legislature back into session to pass our “Make Wisconsin Work” jobs package immediately.”
