Rep. Nygren: Honors Rededication of Copper Culture State Park

Madison- Today, Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette) highlighted the rededication of Copper Culture State Park Museum as a historical and cultural landmark.

“Copper Culture State Park Museum is an important site to remind us of the historical significance of this Native American society unique to the Great Lakes,” said Nygren. “I was happy to be a part of securing funding in this current state budget after several recent budgets failed to do so.”

The 2011-12 State Budget contained $25,000 for the museum that the board used to upgrade the building and install interpretive trail signs and certain spots throughout the park.

“I was honored to be a part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Oconto Chamber of Commerce and Oconto Historical Society,” said Nygren. “I encourage all residents in the area to check out the updated grounds and learn about a civilization exclusive to Northern Wisconsin.”

Copper Culture State Park Museum is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-3pm.

Representative Nygren is in his third term representing the 89th Assembly District.
