Mursau to Chair Natural Resources, Forestry Committees

MADISON – In a major announcement on Tuesday, Wisconsin State Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald announced the appointment of Representative Jeff Mursau (R–Crivitz) as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Natural Resources. The chairmanship responsibilities will be in addition to Mursau’s chairmanship of the Assembly Committee on Forestry. Mursau has been a member of both committees since his first election in 2004.

“I am honored to lead the 36th Assembly District and the State Assembly on natural resources and forestry issues,” Mursau said. “We must ensure the State provides new opportunities for entrepreneurs and businesses to succeed while at the same time protecting and enhancing our abundant natural resources and wildlife.”

Mursau replaces Representative Scott Gunderson (R–Waterford), who has accepted a new position within the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), as Republican chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources. On the Forestry Committee, Mursau replaces former Representative Don Friske (R–Merrill) who chose to not seek re-election in 2010.

“Representatives Gunderson and Friske set a high bar as chairmen of the Assembly Committees on Natural Resources and Forestry,” Mursau said. “I hope to deliver the same level of access for all Wisconsin citizens to influence State regulations and empower our citizens to help create a Wisconsin we all want to live, work and recreate in.”
