Rep. Mason Lauds Racine City Council for RootWorks Vote
Action Allows for Redevelopment of Root River

MADISON – State Representative Cory Mason (D-Racine) praised the Racine City Council for last night’s unanimous vote of approval of the RootWorks project. The Council adopted RootWorks as part of the City’s comprehensive plan.

“One hundred years ago, this corridor of the river was central to Racine’s employment, culture, and recreation,” said Rep. Mason. “The RootWorks plan approved last night will allow us to build on the heritage of this great resource. Racine wouldn’t be what it is today without the Root River, and Racine’s future will be richer and brighter when we invest in a reinvigorated civic life along the Root.”

“The City Council’s unanimous approval of RootWorks means that we can move forward to renew the Root River Corridor and create a district for economic growth in the heart of our City,” said Rep. Mason. “This plan will spur private and public investments in this central corridor.”

“It has taken us seven years to get to this point. It has been a remarkably thoughtful and collaborative process,” said Rep. Mason, who chaired the technical team that developed the RootWorks plan and encouraged its adoption by the City Council.
