REP. MARKLEIN RESPONSE TO STATE OF THE STATE
Trend is in the right direction, but still more work to be done

MADISON Representative Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) released the following statement in response to Governor Walker’s State of the State speech:

“It was good to hear Governor Walker talk about jobs again tonight. I think Governor Walker has his priorities right. As I visit with people in my district, jobs are still a big priority.”

“We lost 150,000 jobs under the previous administration. We could not continue on that path. We gained over 20,000 jobs in the past year. It’s not enough, but it is a start. The trend is in the right direction.”

“The legislature has been focused on job creation in our state. In the past year, I have worked with several of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to draft legislation that promotes job growth in new sectors of the economy. I have also worked with local municipalities and groups on bills that would help cut costs during these difficult financial times.”

“Governor Walker spoke of the dire financial situation the state was facing. I am proud to have supported a budget that eliminated the state’s $3.6 billion deficit that helped put confidence back in job creators to do business in Wisconsin.”

“There is a lot more work to be done for job creation and I’m anxious to do whatever I can in the legislature to promote job growth in the private sector,” Marklein stated.
