It has been my honor to serve as your State Representative for the 59th Assembly District since 2002. It is my mission to be responsive to the needs of my constituents and represent your best interests in Madison.
I would like to tell those of you who have not yet heard, I have decided to not run for re-election this year. This decision did not come easy. I have been in the legislature for 12 years after serving for 14 years on the Sheboygan County Board. I decided the time had come to retire and let somebody else come with new ideas, and a passion for fiscal conservatism and small government that I have tried to achieve the past 12 years.
The last two sessions I was able to advance those principles as a member of the Joint Finance Committee. The last two budgets moved Wisconsin from huge budget deficits to budget surpluses. That allowed us to put more money in the rainy day fund than ever before and cut income and property taxes several times in the last three years.
I was also able to focus a large part of my time this session on reviewing the Administrative Code.
The regulations in the Administrative Code have grown tremendously in the last twenty or more years with little oversight putting a huge regulatory burden on small businesses in this state. You can read more about this project “Right The Rules” by clicking here.
It has been truly an honor to represent the people of the 59th Assembly District the last 12 years. With redistricting in 2012, I have only known some of you for two years but it has been fun attending your picnics and parades, your Eagle Scout Award ceremonies, business milestones and ribbon cuttings.
I remain your representative until December so if you have any issues please contact my office. My staff and I will continue to take your calls and answer your questions.
