In Case You Missed It- Three Graduate From the Wood County Adult Drug Treatment Court

In Case You Missed It- The Wisconsin Rapids Tribune and the Marshfield News Herald both ran great articles on the recent success of the Wood County Adult Drug Treatment Court.

The Adult Drug Treatment Court is a voluntary program for individuals who have been involved in drug related crimes. Participants take regular drug tests and attend weekly treatment sessions with corrections professionals for at least 12 months.

This program has proven to be successful in reducing recidivism which consequently reduces the incarceration expenses the county incurs. According to a University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, for every dollar spent on drug related programs, $1.93 is saved in incarceration costs. As a former Corrections Officer, I understand and fully support programs like these that successfully reduce the recidivism rate and the tax burden.

 Arts and Crafts Directory Available

Wondering when the next local craft fair is? Check out the 2012 Arts and Craft Fair Directory.

The Fair Directory is a comprehensive listing of arts and crafts fairs that are being held throughout the state. These exhibitions help support the local economy and many talented artists. You can even find the 23rd Annual Lake Arrowhead Craft Show that will be held in Rome later this summer.

Wolf Hunting Permit Application

If you are interested in participating in Wisconsin’s wolf hunting and trapping season you must apply for a permit between August 1 and August 31, 2012. The permit application fee is $10.00 and can be purchased from any license sales location, online at dnr.wi.gov, or by phone toll free at 1-877-945-4236. The wolf hunting and trapping season will run from October 15 to February 28, 2013.

If you think that you will ever be interested in participating in a wolf season, then it is recommended that you apply for a permit starting this year in order to accumulate reference points. There are a limited number of wolf permits expected to be available each year and hunters and trappers with preference points will have better chance of being selected in future drawings.
