Jorgensen Thanks Daily Union Readers for Voting Him “Best Politician” for Sixth Year in a Row

MADISON – State Representative Andy Jorgensen (D-Fort Atkinson) is today thanking his constituents for once again voting him the “Best Politician” in the Daily Union’s Best of the Area Reader’s Poll.  Jorgensen has received this honor for six straight years, each year he has served in the Wisconsin State Assembly.

“People want lawmakers who will be accessible, who will listen and who will work hard to represent them.  That’s what I’ve always tried to be – and I think that’s why my friends and neighbors have given me their vote of confidence,” said Jorgensen.  “I’m deeply grateful for their support.”

Many Daily Union readers know Jorgensen led the charge to save SeniorCare last year, launching a petition drive that forced Governor Walker and legislative leaders to restore the popular prescription drug program in the state budget.  He later worked to ensure Wisconsinites had continued access to DMV centers where they could pick up voter ID cards, after the Walker Administration threatened to close many offices across the state.  Jorgensen is also noted for holding hundreds of listening sessions in the 37th Assembly District over the past six years, including 84 in the past cycle alone, and for never missing a vote on the Assembly floor in the 2011-12 term, despite marathon sessions that lasted for days.

“My constituents deserve nothing less than my very ‘best’ efforts,” said Jorgensen.  “They inspire me to work for a stronger Wisconsin – and that’s a Wisconsin with more job opportunities, tax fairness, a great public educational system, and respect for all.”

Jorgensen will accept the “Best Politician” award at the Daily Union banquet on Monday evening.
