Fake Check Scam Now Targeting Babysitters
You reply to an online posting for a babysitting job. The client is moving out of state in a couple of weeks, so you are finalizing the details of the babysitting arrangement by email and text message. Your pay will be $400 a week. The client sends you an initial check for $1,800 and asks you to cash the check, keep the first week's payment, and wire the remainder back. Seem's simple enough .... but it's a scam.

Tax season is coming - a time when people receive their W-2 forms. file tax returns and anxiously await tax refunds. Unforatunately, fraudsters also know that people are looking forward to tax refunds and will use that knowledge to steal refunds and trick consumers into giving up personal financial information.
