MADISON – State Representative Jason M. Fields (D-Milwaukee) today announced the successful passage two bills he authored in the Wisconsin State Assembly that address key issues in youth safety, and education.
The first bill, the Sidelined for Safety Act, passed with bipartisan support on the floor this morning. This important legislation endorsed by the NFL will increase awareness of the concussion risks for young athletes by requiring youth athletes suspected of suffering this type of injury to be removed from play until cleared by a health care provider.
The second Fields bill that passed will tighten requirements for the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program. “Improving quality needs to be the focus of our efforts to reform education in the state of Wisconsin,” stated Rep. Fields. “This bill will do just that by increasing the standards we set for the institutions charged with the important responsibility of educating our children.”
