State Rep. Mary Czaja (R-Irma) announced last week she will serve on the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee, an important body charged with oversight of state spending and revenues.

Czaja represents Assembly District 35, which includes southwestern Oneida County..

“I am honored to be chosen to serve on the Joint Finance Committee,” Czaja said in a statement. “I believe my experience as a small-business owner and representing our rural district will bring an important perspective as we consider the next state budget.”

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) appointed Czaja to the 16-member committee. The committee is composed of Republicans and Democrats from both the Assembly and Senate.

Czaja will start her second term in the Legislature in January.
