Terese Berceau was elected to represent the 76th Assembly District in November of 1998. The 76th District includes the southwestern quadrant of Madison, northern Fitchburg, and parts of the Town of Madison.
Representative Berceau is the Ranking Member of the Assembly Committee on Children and Families and also serves on the Assembly Committee on Insurance, the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities, the Joint Legislative Council, and the Historical Society Board of Curators.
Prior to being elected to the State Assembly, Terese served four terms on the Dane County Board of Supervisors (1992-2000), representing the 20th Supervisory District on Madison's west side. (Nakoma, Midvale Heights and Allied Drive). She was Vice Chair of the Board from 1996-98. She also has served on the City of Madison Community Development Authority (1983-92, Chair 1989-92), and as a board member on the Greater Madison Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center.
She is a member of the Dane County Democratic Party.
Terese was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from Green Bay East High School, and the University of Wisconsin (B.S.), and completed substantial coursework towards a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning at the UW-Madison.
Terese has been a Madison resident since 1969.
Her former occupations include being a career services coordinator for the Robert M. LaFollette Institute at UW-Madison, a staff person for the Wisconsin Counties Association, a consultant for Wisconsin Public Television, a real estate salesperson, and a substitute teacher.
