Rep. Barca statement on budget signing site change

MADISON: Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca released this statement after Gov. Walker announced he would move his budget signing, which he had scheduled at the business of a CEO convicted of six felony counts of income tax evasion, according the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"While the location of the budget signing event has changed, what remains the same is that the budget Gov. Walker will sign is loaded with $2.3 billion in tax breaks and giveaways to corporate special interests while it increases taxes on seniors and working families. The budget also attacks middle-class priorities of public education, quality health care and job retraining.

"Gov. Walker’s original location is fitting given that his budget gives tax breaks to special interests and creates loopholes for corporations to dodge taxes while working families, small Wisconsin businesses and senior citizens have to work longer and harder to foot the bill.”
