Representative Ballweg responds to the 2012 State of the State address
Decisions made now moves us to a better future

Madison – This morning, state Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) issued the following statement regarding the Governor Scott Walker’s State of the State address.

“Last night, the Governor outlined that tough decisions made this session are improving the state’s business climate and jobs have been created. The purpose of this session continues to be driving legislation that creates economic development.

“From 2008 to 2010, under Governor Doyle, Wisconsin lost 150,000 jobs. Despite recent reports, Wisconsin gained over 20,000 jobs in 2011. In addition, the state unemployment rate is at its lowest since December 2008.

“Another focus for 2012 is the education reform package brought forth by the Governor.  He has worked with Superintendent Evers and legislators to improve education in Wisconsin.  There is great value in early screening of students and rigorous testing for our teachers.  This reform will be key in reestablishing Wisconsin as a leader in education.”

Representative Ballweg is the Republican Caucus Chair and represents the 41st Assembly District.
