 Rep. Roys: Walker’s War on Workers Is Bad News for Wisconsin’s Economy

 

MADISON – Rep. Roys issued the following statement regarding Governor Scott Walker’s attack on collective bargaining rights for Wisconsin workers:

“Governor Walker’s plan is an ignorant, reckless attack not only on working families but on our state’s fragile economic recovery. Like his sham special session on jobs, Walker’s unnecessary budget adjustment bill will not create a single job – but will roll back the rights and economic security of thousands of Wisconsin families. This scheme will take several thousand dollars out of the pockets of middle-class Wisconsinites, while unraveling over half a century of worker protections.

“Wisconsin needs a Governor who understands that a strong, vibrant middle class is essential to our state’s economic health. Wisconsin needs a Governor who realizes that devastating working families with significant pay cuts will harm – not help – the state’s revenue base. Wisconsin needs a Governor with the intellectual honesty to learn from his mismanagement and anti-worker policies as Milwaukee County Executive, rather than repeat them on a larger scale. Wisconsin needs a Governor with the courage to face our state’s challenges head on, by showing up at the bargaining table – instead of invoking the National Guard in a cynical attempt to intimidate teachers, nurses, and public safety workers.

“Instead of the Governor we need, we get Scott Walker. We get no negotiations with workers, no time for public input, and exemptions only for the few unions who endorsed his campaign for Governor.

“Governor Walker’s failed leadership is an embarrassment to Wisconsin.”

 Rep. Roys Elected Democratic Caucus Chair

 

MADISON, WI - Today, Assembly Democrats elected Rep. Kelda Helen Roys (D-Madison) as their next Caucus Chair. Upon her election, Rep. Roys issued the following statement:

 

"I thank my colleagues for placing their trust in me, and I am honored to have earned their support to serve as Democratic Caucus Chair for the next legislative session. I look forward to working with Assembly Democrat Leader-elect Peter Barca, Assistant Democrat Leader-elect Donna Seidel, and all of our legislative colleagues to grow Wisconsin's economy, fight for working families, and protect essential public services.

 

"Our team is strong and ready to cooperate with our colleagues across the aisle to find solutions for the pressing economic problems facing our state. In the last session, Democrats worked to prevent another Great Depression, protected and created thousands of jobs, preserved public safety and education, and held the line on taxes - all while balancing a budget with historic deficits.

81st District Bio-Tech Business Receives Qualified New Business Venture Certification

 

MADISON –

 

Governor Jim Doyle announced today that Stablebody Technologies, LLC, Middleton, Dane County, has received the Qualified New Business Venture (QNBV) certification from the Department of Commerce (Commerce).  Commerce certified the company as eligible for up to $4 million in eligible investment, which makes its investors eligible for a 25-percent tax credit on the amount they invest in the company.

“StableBody Technologies, LLC is excited to license this breakthrough technology from Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois and bring it to Wisconsin.” said H. Rossiter Horn, Founder and COO.  “We feel fortunate to be associated with many of the founders of the biotechnology industry of Wisconsin and a supportive, proactive Wisconsin Department of Commerce.  SBT plan to make antibodies and proteins more robust so they may be adapted to more molecular uses in therapeutics and diagnostics”.

 Stablebody Technologies, LLC, formed in 2009, will commercialize a new technology in antibody research, development, and manufacturing. Antibodies are an important tool in biomedical research. The innate stability of a candidate antibody is a major contributor to its eventual success. Stablebody Technologies, LLC will use new technology to promote the stabilization of target antibodies. The company relocated from Argonne, IL, to Middleton, WI.

Local Food Distribution Hub to Open in Madison, WI

As part of a Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grant, a centralized distribution hub is opening on the east side of Madison, WI. The hub is managed by Rink DaVee of Green and Green, LLC, a small scale distributor with several years of experience in produce and local food distribution.

This Madison-based refrigerated storage / aggregation hub is seeking pilot tenants for a monthly lease rate or pay-as-you-go cross docking . Green and Green is also interested in growers and value-added products to include on their product sheets, sent out weekly to WI food distributors.
