
Mark was elected to represent the 78th
Assembly District in November of 1998 after former State Representative
Tammy Baldwin was elected to represent the 2nd Congressional District in the
U.S. Congress. The 78th District covers Madison's Isthmus, the Near East,
North and South Side of Madison, portions of the Town of Madison, and the
Village of Maple Bluff.
Mark currently serves on the Committee on Colleges & Universities, Committee on Urban & Local
Affairs and the Joint Committee on Retirement Systems.
Previous committee assignments include the Joint
Committee on Finance (2 years as Co-Chair), Audit, Employee Relations,
Legislative Council, Corrections & the Courts, Campaigns & Elections,
Health, and Environment.
Prior to being elected to the State
Assembly, Mark served three terms on the Dane County Board of Supervisors,
representing downtown Madison's Ninth (1991-1992) and Fourth districts
(1992-1996).
In addition to serving in the Assembly,
Mark also owns Budget Signs & Specialties, a
sign, award and specialty firm that he
started in May of 1988
