Ten years ago when I ran for the 58th State Assembly District seat, the fiscal health of the State of Wisconsin was dismal. Today, thanks to the courage of the Wisconsin State Legislature and our Governor, Scott Walker, we have turned the deficit into a surplus. I cannot be prouder to have served during these historic times.
Presently, my 90 year old mother’s health could be better, and I have decided to spend more time with her. For this reason, I will not be seeking re-election.
I have a passion for good government. I have spent over a quarter century as an elected official, 16 years as a Washington County Board Supervisor and 10 as a Representative for Wisconsin's 58th Assembly District. I will continue to be deeply involved in pursuing this passion. I am confident that a good Republican will take my place.
I would like to thank everyone in the community for their tremendous support during my time as an elected official. I am truly humbled by the confidence you have entrusted in me.
As we finish out the 2013-15 session, I will remain focused on working to create jobs, attract business to Wisconsin, and keep spending under control.
I am also honored and humbled that my Assembly Republicans colleagues elected me as their new majority leader for the rest of this session. I am also honored to be the first woman to hold the position. We will continue to move forward in scheduling the many bills before us as we finish the 2013-15 session.
As always, it is my privilege to represent you in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Please do not hesitate to call, email, or write with your concerns and suggestions. Have a safe and happy 2014.
