The Impact of Art

Community: noun, often attributive; com·mu·ni·ty | \ kə-ˈmyü-nə-tē:
A group of people with common interests especially when living together.
An assemblage of interacting populations occupying a given area.

The Assembly Community Development Committee is newly formed for this session.  Our overarching goal is to facilitate communities learning from each other, to be inspired, and spark creativity in its basic form.  Art is a great place to start.  When we get involved with the arts, we interact as a population. There’s an aesthetic when it comes to art, and we can like it or not, disagree or not, but we can have a conversation about that aesthetic and find common ground.  There’s a potential in Wisconsin for communities to leverage the arts and creativity to create economic growth, and fuse art with science and business in ways we haven’t yet considered. Below are two videos, the first is Representative Allen's opening statement to the Committee.

The second video is the Public Hearing in its entirety, about two hours and forty-five minutes long. Local Waukesha arts and development leaders are featured at the 1:13:00 mark.
