Happy Mother's Day

Every May, we set aside a particular Sunday for special people—our mothers.  Moms are there when we cut our first tooth, scrape our knee and need a kiss. They pray for us, help us navigate through education, relationships and careers.  The founder of Mother’s Day, Anna Jarvis, wanted us to celebrate not just all mothers, but the “best mother you’ve ever known” and stressed the “singular Mother’s Day, rather than the plural "Mothers’ Day.”  I hope you take that to heart this Sunday and truly celebrate your mother.  Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!

Upcoming Listening Sessions

Genesee Town Hall visit with Kapenga and Duchow

Representative Allen listening to Constituents of the 97th at a town hall

On Wednesday, May 17th, Representative Allen will be joined by Senator Chris Kapenga and Rep. Cindi Duchow for a public listening session. The listening session will take place at the Genesee Town Hall, S43W31391 Hwy 83, Genesee Depot, from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. If you wish to attend, you will be asked to sign in and you will be able submit written questions for the Representatives and Senator.  Questions will be taken in order, time permitting, and answered by your legislator.

Coffee With Scott Returns

Earlier this year, Representative Allen held his first “Coffee with Scott”, pre-scheduled, one-on-one, ten-minute meetings with constituents. Rep. Allen created “Coffee with Scott” to provide a more comfortable and personal conversation with constituents, and focus on their concerns.

The event will be held on Tuesday, May 30th, from 4:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. at The Steaming Cup, 340 W Main Street, in downtown Waukesha.

Constituents interested in talking with Rep. Allen about their legislative priorities are asked to schedule a 10-minute time slot by contacting his office. Appointments will be made on a first-scheduled, first served basis. To schedule a meeting, call 608-266-8581, email, or sign up on Facebook!

Survey Results Part 1

In March, you may have received a Budget Survey from my office.  I sent it to the citizens of the 97th Assembly district to gain valuable feedback and input on the state budget.  Through all of April, my office has received hundreds of responses both in the hard copies and the online edition we published on the website. As of today we have received a total of 429 responses. We have been going over every response and over the next two months we will be releasing the results.  The budget survey plays an important part in performing my most important function—serving you! Thank you to those who participated!

Last week I voted in favor of AB 123, The Rural Broadband initiative, which the Assembly passed. AB123 instructs the Public Service Commission to prioritize unserved areas first.  That bill now goes to the Senate.

I Asked:

Which Phrase Would Most Closely Represent Your Views on Gun Ownership?

There is currently a bill introduced by Senator Craig regarding Constitutional Carry, AB247/SB169, which I have not cosponsored. The bill is currently before the Assembly Committee on State Affairs and is awaiting a public hearing.
