MAMA DíS OPENS NEW LOCATION IN GENESEE DEPOT

Representative Allen and Diane Markus, owner of Mama Dís in Genesee Depot

Genesee Depot welcomed a new, third location for Mama Dís Coffee Shop! Already established in Waukesha and Wales, the new Genesee Depot digs are located in the historic railroad station (formerly the Genesee Depot Cafť). Weíre enthusiastic about Mama Dís expansion to Genesee Depot, and wish them well!

If you know of a new business or business expansion in the 97th Assembly District, let us know. Representative Allen would love to visit and feature that business in an upcoming E-Update.

STATE HIGHWAY AUDIT UPDATE

Late last week, the Legislative Audit Bureau released its analysis of the state highway program. The Joint Audit Committee requested the report last year. The 149-page report detailed dozens of areas where the Department of Transportation failed to adhere to their own guidelines and failed to implement best practices, wasting tens of millions of taxpayer dollars.

In response, Representative Scott Allen (R-Waukesha) issued the following statement:

ďIt is disappointing to learn that best practices were not used by DOT, and taxpayer dollars were taken for granted. I am reviewing the audit carefully and will be talking with my Assembly colleagues about the best ways to move forward. While Secretary Rossí response is encouraging, I hope that the Governor directs his attention to making sure the Audit Bureauís recommendations are implemented. Our task in the legislature is to maximize the value of our citizensí tax dollars. This audit will provide a valuable reference tool while evaluating the Governorís soon-to-be-released budget.Ē
