Result of Session Today
Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly debated Governor Evers' public health order requiring Wisconsinites to wear masks. After many floor speeches both for and against the mandate, the Assembly voted to overturn the mask mandate.
Also today, the Assembly continued its refusal to accept the compromise COVID-19 Relief Bill. As you may remember from my last update, this was a compromise agreed upon by Senate Republicans and the Governor. I was hoping Assembly Republicans could come around and agree with their counterparts in the Senate to move the bill forward, but unfortunately that was not the case today.
The pandemic should not be used as a political football. Our legislative body has the capacity to move or state forward in a bipartisan manner, but we truly need to stop playing politics in order to move forward and keep our community safe.
Until next time,
Steve
