Rep. Petryk and Others Announce “Rural Wisconsin Initiative”
Madison, WI – Today, Representative Warren Petryk (R-Eleva) along with twenty other colleagues from rural areas around the state, including western Wisconsin Representatives Quinn, Bernier, Larson, and Murtha, announced the “Rural Wisconsin Initiative.” This initiative includes seven pieces of legislation that are intended to start conversation regarding opportunities available in rural communities across the great state of Wisconsin.
“It is very exciting to be part of a great team of legislators who recognize the unique opportunities and challenges faced by the people of rural Assembly Districts such as our 93rd Assembly District,” stated Petryk. “One of my top priorities, rural broadband expansion, will be addressed by this team effort to improve the life of my constituents.”
The “Rural Wisconsin Initiative” includes legislation that will increase available resources for youth apprenticeship grants and tuition reimbursement grants for apprenticeships, create rural opportunity zones, expand a student loan repayment program for rural teachers, encourages STEM education in rural school district, bolster funding for Wisconsin Rural Physician Residency Assistance Program, and broadband expansion.
“I am proud of the work of this team of rural legislators and I look forward to discussing this initiative with our colleagues,” said Petryk. “We have so many wonderful opportunities to offer not only in the 93rd Assembly District but in rural communities all around the state.”
