Fall traditions in full swing
Fall in Wisconsin marks a time of tradition, especially in the 92nd Assembly District. The leaves are turning, families are picking pumpkins, farmers are harvesting their crops, schools are bustling with activities and the deer are running.
This is the time of year that reminds me how much I enjoy living in rural Wisconsin. As I travel around the district I see families gather, stands filled with community members for school events, farmers working hard and hunting parties going into the woods. These fall traditions bring out the true meaning of community.
While archery season has been open since September, gun season will be upon on us very soon. I was able to enjoy bonding time with my daughter when I guided her during the youth hunt. I value teaching her safe hunting practices and passing on my appreciation of the sport as I know many other parents do. I look forward to hunting with my family and friends this upcoming gun deer season, as I know that many of us cherish this time with our friends, family and neighbors.
I was happy to hear from many of my farming constituents that it has been a good harvest this year despite the shaky spring and a wet fall. It is important for us to be considerate of our farmers on country roads as they bring in their crops during this limited window of time. As we gather with our families to give thanks we should remember how blessed we are to live in an area where we get to see first-hand where our food comes from.
Soon we will be blanketed with snow and filled with holiday cheer, but until then enjoy the fall spirit, have a great Thanksgiving and to all the hunters, happy hunting!
