Pronschinske Introduces Legislation to Legalize Noodling
MADISON – State Representative Treig Pronschinske (Mondovi) has introduced legislation that would allow for the capture of catfish by hand, bow and arrow, or crossbow.
“Many people already enjoy the sport of harvesting catfish by hand (commonly known as noodling) in southern states along the Mississippi River,” said Pronschinske. “As fishing for trophy catfish continues to grow in popularity in Wisconsin, it is important to update state law to reflect the common ways in which they are captured.”
The Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River, especially in and around the 92nd Assembly District is prime catfish water. This bill would not change any current laws regarding bag and size limits, seasons, or zones.
