Bill to Streamline Passport Applications is Officially Law
Today I joined Governor Walker as he signed into law my bill that simplifies passport applications. The current, cumbersome process for receiving a passport was due for an update. My bill serves to streamline the process and save passport applicants money at the same time – a win-win situation. The bill allows county Clerks and Clerks of Courts to legally copy a birth certificates to be used in passport applications. With the cost of getting a passport already over $100, this was a common sense solution to an issue many Wisconsinites will encounter.
As your state representative, it has always been my goal to find solutions for problems my constituents face. I look forward to continuing to find ways to help our government work for Wisconsin families, businesses, and communities.
Honored to receive a pen from Gov. Walker for my first bill that became law
City of Arcadia Receives Federal Grant
Governor Walker announced very exciting news for the City of Arcadia today: they will be the recipients of a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant given by the federal government in order to construct a new well. The City of Arcadia has been a great asset to western Wisconsin and the state, creating jobs and making a positive impact on the area’s success. With funds from this grant, the city’s well infrastructure will be able to continue to meet the needs of the community for generations to come.
Congratulations to the City of Arcadia for making it through the competitive application process in order to keep the city moving forward.
Enjoying meeting with Sen. Darling and staff to talk about the Arcadia flooding.
Foster Care Task Force
Last month, I was named to the Speaker’s Task Force on Foster Care. As a long-time youth mentor, I have personally seen the challenges that foster care children face. I am excited to join colleagues from both side of the aisle as we develop ideas to improve the child welfare system.
With thousands of Wisconsin children being placed in foster care each year, I know this is an important issue for us to tackle. We will be traveling the state, meeting with local experts, holding public hearings, and brainstorming ideas for laws that can help families and children who are, were, or could be part of the foster care system.
