Foster Care Hearing
Today, I joined my colleagues on the Speaker’s Task Force on Foster Care in La Crosse for a public hearing. In order to make informed legislative decisions in regards to this issue, we are hearing from people across the state who have invaluable insights, experiences, and advice.
At the public hearing, we heard from professional case workers, foster parents, people who were part of the foster system, and others close to the issue. It was a great day, hearing from so many different people about ways we can improve the child welfare system. As we continue to hold public hearings throughout Wisconsin, I am hopeful that we will be able to craft meaningful legislation to be brought to the Assembly floor.
Arcadia Flooding
As you may know, my budget motion to provide the City of Arcadia with $14.6 million for flood control infrastructure was included in our state’s 2-year budget. Recently, I spoke with community members about the effects of the flooding as well as the impact these funds will have for the City of Arcadia. Homeowners and business owners alike deserve to feel safe in the community, and I’m proud to have helped provide a solution to Arcadia’s flooding problems.
Mondovi Fire Department Fundraiser
Last weekend, I attended the Barn Again Lodge Fall Festival, with all proceeds going to support the Mondovi Fire Department. It was a perfect way to enjoy great food and participate in fun, family-friendly activities – all while supporting our local firefighters.
