Pronschinske Foster Forward legislation now law
Governor Walker signed several bills into law that were a part of the bipartisan Foster Forward legislative package. Representative Treig Pronschinske (Mondovi), in conjunction with Rep. Steve Doyle (Onalaska), authored Assembly Bill 776 which was among the bills that were signed into law.
“Thank you to Danielle Schalinske from Buffalo County and Deb Suchla from Trempealeau County for their help in getting this important legislation passed,” said Rep. Pronschinske. “AB 776 will enhance the continuity of foster care licensing, and in turn increase the ability to license more homes without making any changes to the licensure requirements.”
Assembly Bill 776 was inspired by the comments heard from Buffalo County during the Speaker’s Task Force on Foster Care hearing in La Crosse last year. The bill makes it possible to transfer foster homes with a valid license to another licensing authority. The bill also allows counties to license foster homes in other counties, rather than just on a per child basis.
