On the Floor: State Budget

We as the Assembly are on the floor to vote on our state’s biannual budget right now. We have been hard at work crafting a budget that will provide a better quality of life for hard-working families while strengthening the economy, our schools, and our communities. I am excited to vote on a budget that I know focuses on all of our top priorities.

I have heard from countless western Wisconsinites that investing in our students and teachers is a top concern. Our budget prioritizes students in a big way by providing over $600 million in additional funding to K-12 classrooms. Additionally, we are making sure parents have the right to choose the best educational path for their children. Along with these record investments, our budget freezes tuition at UW schools, making sure a college education is attainable and affordable for Wisconsin families. Under our budget, we are showing our commitment to providing the best schools, teachers, and opportunities for our students.

My budget motion to provide the City of Arcadia with $14.6 million for flood control infrastructure is included in the budget. Arcadia’s many businesses supply much of western Wisconsin with great jobs, a budding economy, and growing communities. I am excited to see legislators from across the state understand the importance that the City of Arcadia brings to Wisconsin families.

Our budget also addresses our state’s need for transportation funding. I know that having good roads is essential to building a strong economy and family-supporting jobs. We will continue to live within our means while also utilizing every dollar available to us to ensure we have solid roads throughout the state.

I am eager to discuss the budget on the floor today, and ultimately end with a bill that will help hard-working Wisconsin families prosper.

Blair Cheese Fest

The Blair Cheese Fest is happening this weekend, September 14th-17th. I’ll be there with my family to enjoy the tractor pull, car show, family activities, and of course, cheese! It’ll be a great way to enjoy Wisconsin’s most famous food and spend time with my family and community. I look forward to seeing you there.
