Madison – Today, Rep. John Macco (R-Ledgeview) introduced the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) bill with Sen. Howard Marklein (R-17). He released the following statement:
“This bill represents an opportunity for individuals with disabilities to have more financial stability and choices in their care,” said Rep. Macco. “This bill will mirror the success from other states who have already introduced the accounts.”
LRB−1861/1 will establish a 529-A accounts in Wisconsin. These accounts allow donations of $14,000 per year to an account to cover costs associated with the disability. Enrollment in this account will not cause the individual with a disability to be ineligible for Supplemental Security Income or Medicaid.
“This bill is good for the families of Wisconsin, and every legislator has constituents that will be affected by the benefits of this bill,” continued Rep. Macco. “I believe that this bill is an example of this legislature’s continued commitment to creating better lives for individuals with disabilities in Wisconsin.”
