Madison…Last night the budget-writing Joint Finance Committee adopted a motion authored by Representative John Macco (R-Ledgeview) to expand the Be Great, Graduate program by the Green Bay Boys and Girls Club to three other clubs. Rep. Macco released the following statement.

“The Be Great, Graduate Program is another example of ‘I must do something always accomplishes more than something must be done’,” said Rep. Macco. “The students who are enrolled in this program may not have been given the easiest lot in life, but their dedication to completing the program gives them the skill set to become future leaders. It’s exciting that other areas of the state will now see the many benefits of this program.”

The Be Great, Graduate program was first established at the Green Bay Boys and Girls Club. The program takes youth at risk of not graduating high school and enrolls them in structured mentorship and internship opportunities to set them up for success in the future. In a motion passed last night, the program will be expanded to Boys and Girls Clubs in Milwaukee, Oshkosh and Appleton.

“This program’s success in our community has been phenomenal,” continued Rep. Macco. “I would like to thank my Democrat colleague, Representative Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) and my Republican colleagues Representative Dale Kooyenga (R – Brookfield), Senator Alberta Darling (R – River Hills) and Representative John Nygren (R - Marinette) for their support and advocacy on this issue.”
