John was born and raised in the Green Bay area. He came from humble beginnings, growing up with six siblings in a 1200 square foot house on Pilgrim Street until the day he turned 18. John is married to Suzan, and together they have two sons. He helped establish two successful businesses, both of which are still owned and operated by family members.
Prior to his election to the state assembly, John was a dedicated public servant in the community. He served on the executive board for Olde Main Street, was active with Downtown Green Bay, Inc., and served as both elder and deacon at his church, Central Church Green Bay.
John is currently a member of the Wisconsin Wing, Civil Air Patrol Legislative Squadron. Civil Air Patrol is the official Auxiliary of the United States Air Force he holds the rank of Major, he is also a member of Olde Main Street and enjoys outdoor activities including diving, cycling, flying, skiing and gardening.
