 Fall Color Report

Fall is right around the corner and that means beautiful fall colors! Wisconsin has some of the best sites during the fall months, including locations right here in Marathon County. Granite Peak offers ski lift tickets during the fall months, so visitors can experience the true beauty of Wisconsin from above. You can buy tickets online, here

In addition, check out the Department of Tourism's Fall Color Report! This guide allows viewers to see when the fall colors will peak in various areas of the state. Using the guide could help you maximize an experience up Rib Mountain on the Granite Peak ski lift!

Legislation Update!

Last week, I mentioned several bills that I authored were up for a vote in committee this week. I am proud to announce all three bills were passed out of committee with unanimous support of the committee members.

Assembly bill 187 standardizes micro-market pre-licensing fees, while ensuring local health departments aren't imposing heavy handed restrictions on new micro-markets. The legislation was voted out of the Senate Committee on Public Benefits, Licensing and State-Federal Relations on a 5-0 vote.

Assembly bills 240 and 241 both aim to provide additional protections for individuals with food allergies, by requiring reasonable training and procedures within restaurants to reduce the risk of critical incidents related to food allergies. The bills passed out of the Committee on Local Government, Small Business, Tourism and Workforce Development  in a 5-0 vote.

Happy Hunting!

The crossbow hunting season in Wisconsin begins on September 14th this year. Before heading out for a hunt, don't forget to review these safety tips for crossbow season! The Department of Natural Resource's website also includes links to resources and training from the North American Crossbow Federation.

Additionally, don't forget that hunter's safety is required for crossbow hunters as well! The course covers topics like the history of modern day bowhunting; bowhunting equipment; responsibilities of bowhunters; etc. You can find out more information about safety education through the DNR's website

Lastly, if you haven't yet, check out the DNR's Hunt Wild Wisconsin mobile app! The app includes information on public hunting lands; shooting hours; deer carcass disposal locations; and more! It is a great on-the-go resource for hunters!

Congratulations!

Last weekend I had the honor of attending an Eagle Scout Ceremony for Matthew (pictured above). Senator Jerry Petrowski and I had the opportunity to present him with a citation for his hard work and dedication to becoming an Eagle Scout. I greatly appreciate his service and contribution to our community!

If someone you know deserves to be cited for their contribution to our community, please contact my office about having a citation made. Examples include Eagle Scouts; retirements; anniversaries, etc.
