In the coming week, we have a special opportunity to do something that many of us often say we don't take time to do enough: be thankful. With the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner, I am thinking about the things that I am grateful for this year. I am thankful for my health; my wife, kids, grandkids, and the rest of my family; my staff; and the opportunity to serve my fellow citizens in the 85th Assembly District. I wish you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

On Thursday, I joined Shereen Siewert on the WPR show Route 51 along with State Representative Katrina Shankland (D-Stevens Point). We had great conversations about drunk driving penalties; chronic wasting disease; medical marijuana; reducing homelessness; and more. Click here to hear the recording of our segment on Route 51!

Foster Care Conversations

On Monday, I joined several legislators in Northwest Wisconsin to talk with foster and adoptive parents about the Speaker's Task Forces on Foster Care and Adoption. We discussed the legislation that resulted from those Task Forces and the challenges that still exist within the child welfare system. I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue working through these challenges.

Adoption Awards

On Wednesday, I attended a ceremony in which adoptive parents throughout the state were honored for their exceptional sacrifices and support of children through adoption. Corresponding with National Adoption Month, five families were recognized. The outstanding actions of these families include adopting siblings groups; adopting and fostering children with special needs; and adopting a large number of children (one family has adopted 13 kids!). A special thank you to all of our adoptive families for providing safe and loving environments for children in our state.
