The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is seeking applicants for the Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin Grant Program. The program aims to increase public awareness and consumption of locally produced foods and agricultural products. Created to assist the agriculture and food industries, this economic development grant seeks to improve food production, processing, marketing, and distribution.

The department is seeking individuals and organizations with projects designed to promote, expand or create local food marketing systems; food and cultural tourism routes; and distribution of Wisconsin food products primarily for sale to local purchasers.

The Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin grants are awarded through a competitive review process. Requests are accepted for $5,000-$50,000 and the application deadline is noon on Friday, February 28th. Click here for more information!

Child Care Office Hours

This week, I met with the Department of Children and Families' leadership to discuss child care and the shortage of providers in our community and across our state. This is a critical issue facing young families in our area, and throughout the country. I am committed to working with providers, families, employers, researchers and the department to identify innovative solutions to this problem.

As I continue my research, I would love to hear from you! On Monday, January 20th I will be hosting my monthly office hours from 6pm-8pm at Biggby Coffee (Bridge Street location). We will be focusing on child care this month, so please stop by to share your thoughts or experiences.
