To celebrate this year's Independence Day, I walked in the Elderon 4th of July Parade. It was great to see so many new and familiar faces! I enjoyed passing out candy and getting the chance to speak with a number of constituents on such a beautiful day. Thank you to all of you who participated in showing your love and support for our country. It was a great day.
Last week, I had the chance to tour the Weston Power Plant with Senator Patrick Testin. The site is home to three fossil-fueled electric generating units that make electricity for Wisconsin Public Service customers. One of the units, the Weston 4, is a state-of-the-art electric generator that uses clean coal technologies-making it one of the cleanest power plants in the country! It was great to visit a site that has been lighting and warming homes in our area for more than 125 years.
Over the next few weeks, the Speaker's Task Force on Foster Care will begin its work on finding solutions to the struggles facing our child welfare system. I am excited to begin my role as co-chair, and look forward to hearing insight from experts and individuals as we tour the state. To keep you up to speed on the progress we are making, I will make sure to include any information on upcoming hearings and committee work within my newsletter.
If you have any questions or comments about the task force, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
