January 30, 2017

MADISON – Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison), nominated by Minority Leader Peter Barca, has been appointed by Governor Scott Walker to serve on the Governor's Council on Domestic Abuse.

“Wisconsin has a strong network of support for survivors of domestic abuse, yet domestic violence continues to impact more individuals and families in our state each year,” said Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison). “I look forward to working with fellow legislators, experts, and advocates to prevent domestic violence and ensure survivors and their children receive the assistance they need.”

The Governor’s Council on Domestic Abuse advises the Governor, Legislature, and Department of Children and Families on issues related to domestic abuse policy and prevention funding.  The Council also serves as a sounding board and resource for citizens of the State on domestic abuse issues. The Council has worked closely with End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin to develop the 2014 - 2020 Long Range Plan for a Safe Wisconsin which identified priorities to prevent domestic violence and support victims.

“Domestic violence affects residents of communities in every part of Wisconsin and takes a heavy toll on the survivors, their families, and our communities,” said Rep. Subeck. “I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the Council to implement the 2014 - 2020 Long Range Plan for a Safe Wisconsin and to prevent domestic violence in our state.”
