ELECTION SET TO TAKE PLACE TOMORROW
APRIL 7, 2020

POLLS ARE OPEN 7 AM - 8 PM

In a decision late this afternoon, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled against Governor Evers's Executive Order to move the election to a later date. This means:

  • Polls will be open from 7 am to 8 pm on Tuesday.
  • The City of Madison Clerk's office has indicated that curbside voting will be available at all Madison polling places.
  • If you requested but have not received your absentee ballot, you may contact the City Clerk's Office at clerk@cityofmadison.com or at (608) 266-4601. They can email you a ballot which absolutely must be postmarked tomorrow or returned to your polling place before the polls close at 8 pm. The Clerk's staff will be very busy tomorrow and may be hard to reach, so if you are able and comfortable doing so, you may also simply vote at your polling place (curbside or inside) by telling the poll workers you did not receive your absentee ballot.
  • Many polling locations have closed. Be sure to check the City of Madison Clerk's web page before you head to the polls so you go to the correct location. There is also a map that illustrates which polling locations have moved.
  • Remember to bring your ID.

Additionally, early this evening, the United State Supreme Court ruled that ballots must be postmarked or returned by tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7, to be counted. The extension that had previously been granted is no longer in effect.  This means the following:

  • If you still possess your absentee ballot, you must drop it off tomorrow or have it postmarked with tomorrow's date of April 7, 2020 for your ballot to be counted.
  • Completed absentee ballots can also be dropped off before noon at the Central, Pinney, or Sequoia Libraries.
