Jewish American Heritage Month

2017 Assembly Joint Resolution 50 - Passed

This resolution proclaimed May 2017 as Jewish American Heritage Month.

The resolution was introduced by Representative Lisa Subeck, Representative Jonathan Brostoff, and Representative Daniel Riemer, the three Jewish legislators in the Wisconsin Legislature.

Jewish American Heritage Month is observed nationwide every May to recognize the more than 360-year history of Jewish contributions to our nation's civic, social, economic, and cultural life. There are 30,000 Jews living in Wisconsin, worshiping at over 30 active synagogues across the state. The resolution thanks Jewish American citizens for their role in shaping the United States’ character, strengthening the promise of religious freedom, and teaching the virtues of justice, hope, and perseverance.
