U.S. Supreme Court keeps guns out of the hands of criminals

June 27, 2016

MADISON – Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on Voisine v. United States. The 6-2 decision ruled that a domestic-violence conviction is a misdemeanor crime of violence for purposes of limiting access to firearms.

“The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Voisine v. United States is good news when it comes to keeping guns out of the hands of criminals. It makes sense that domestic violence convictions should be a factor in limiting access to firearms. Today’s ruling will help protect and save lives by keeping guns out of the hands of those who would use them to do harm."
