Rep. Meyers Statement on Gov. Evers Budget Address
MADISON – Rep. Beth Meyers (D-Bayfield) released the following statement on Governor Tony Evers’ first budget address:
“For too many years, Northern Wisconsin has been routinely ignored by the state government in Madison. When Governor Evers gave his inaugural budget address tonight, I saw a change. I believe that my constituents will be truly and earnestly listened to on issues that matter to them.
“The budget includes many policies and investments that are long overdue – high-speed internet access for rural Wisconsin, accepting the federal Medicaid expansion money, closing tax loopholes for millionaires and billionaires, investing in tribal initiatives, clean water policies, and finally working toward a sustainable, long-term solution to fixing our roads and bridges.
“Tonight is just the beginning. In the upcoming months, I’ll be talking with my constituents and finding out what they think because at the end of the day, this is their budget. I look forward to listening to folks and relaying their priorities to the Evers Administration. I’m confident that we now have a governor that will listen to the concerns of the people of Northern Wisconsin.”
