Meyers Sworn into Third Term in State Legislature
MADISON – On Monday, January 7, State Representative Beth Meyers (D – Bayfield) was sworn in as a State Representative for the 104th Wisconsin State Legislature. Rep. Meyers was officially sworn into office at an Inauguration ceremony in the State Capitol surrounded by family, friends, and staff.
“It’s been an honor working on behalf of the constituents of the 74th Assembly District, and I look forward to serving Northern Wisconsin for another term. There is plenty of work to be done in Madison—making healthcare affordable, investing in quality schools, lowering taxes and expanding access to high-speed internet are all essential to making sure Northern Wisconsin thrives. I will do all I can to see that issues that affect my district are addressed in the legislature and with Governor Evers’ administration,” said Meyers.
Representative Meyers will be serving as the Ranking Democrat for the Committee on Energy & Utilities and Committee on Aging and Long-Term Care. She will also continue to serve on the Transportation and the Financial Institutions Committees for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session.
“I am pleased to serve as Ranking Democrat on the Assembly Committee on Energy & Utilities and the Assembly Committee on Aging & Long-Term Care. I’m honored to be appointed to two of the most influential committees in the legislature that encompass policy initiatives and legislative proposals that affect my constituents in Northern Wisconsin,” stated Meyers.
Meyers is the Representative for the 74th Assembly District. This is her third term serving on the Assembly leadership team. She was elected to the Bayfield County Board of Supervisors in April 2010 and served until April 2015. Before taking office in the State Legislature, she served as the executive director for CORE Community Resources; a community based non-profit serving seniors in the Chequamegon Bay area of northern Wisconsin. Meyers lives in the town of Russell. This will be her third term serving as the State Representative for the 74th Assembly District.
