Rep. Shankland Named Friend of Family Medicine

 MADISON –Today Rep. Katrina Shankland (D-Stevens Point) announced that she has been named a Friend of Family Medicine by the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians (WAFP).

In response, Rep. Shankland released the following statement:

“I’m honored to be named a Friend of Family Medicine by the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians, and I appreciate everything they do to improve quality medical care across the state. Everyone deserves access to affordable, comprehensive health care, and I am committed to continuing my work in the legislature to promote and advance effective health care policies.”

Rep. Shankland is being recognized for her support of legislation to expand the Child Psychiatry Consultation Program during the 2017-2019 budget cycle, as well as her work to combat opioid addiction. WAFP’s 2,900 members make up the single largest physician specialty group in Wisconsin, focusing on improving the quality of medical care across the state, as well as investing in research and educational programs for medical students. WAFP actively engages in legislative advocacy and is committed to promoting a healthier Wisconsin.
