Governor Evers kicks off listening tour in Stevens Point

For WAOW

STEVENS POINT (WAOW)– Governor Tony Evers and Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes started their state wide listening tour on Wednesday in Stevens Point. The tour gives the people of Wisconsin a chance to express their thoughts about the proposed state budget.

There were six small group discussions surrounding education, healthcare, criminal justice reform, transportation and infrastructure, environment and natural resources, and jobs and tax fairness.

Both the Governor and Lieutenant Governor split time among the groups listening to what individuals had to say regarding the respective topics.

“At the end of the day we’re going to need to come to common ground and find solutions for the people of Wisconsin. The priorities and information that we use tonight not only will we use to advocate for our budget but at the end of the day we need to find common ground and what they’re telling us are really important to making sure we get to the right place” Governor Tony Evers said after the event.
